Context

Manabie is an education technology company building an LMS/ERP platform serving schools, tutoring centers, and educational organizations across Southeast Asia. As the product designer, I was responsible for designing multiple interconnected modules within the platform, each serving different user roles with distinct workflows and permissions.

Challenge

Enterprise education platforms face a unique UX tension: administrators need information density and bulk operations, while teachers and parents need simplicity and clarity. The platform had to serve HQ administrators managing thousands of records, center managers approving requests, staff members handling timesheets and attendance, and students interacting with a simpler consumer-grade interface.

Design Decisions

Designed role-based dashboards where each user type sees only what’s relevant, reducing cognitive overload while maintaining data consistency. Created clear approval workflow visualization with color-coded status indicators. For the Entry & Exit system, redesigned information hierarchy per device — mobile shows scan-and-go for students, tablet shows class-level overview for teachers, desktop shows school-wide dashboard for administrators.

Outcome

These modules shipped to production serving educational institutions across Southeast Asia. The multi-role design approach was adopted as a pattern for subsequent modules built by other designers on the team. This project demonstrates enterprise-scale complexity — multi-role workflows, data-dense interfaces, cross-platform responsive design, and design system contribution within a team.
